Almut Schäfer-Kubelka

Born in 1993, raised and socialized in Vienna full of mixed feelings.

She was shaped by the muddy waters of the "Neusiedler See" in Burgenland, the treetops of Annaberg in Lower Austria and the South African heat of Bloemfontein.

She begins to study history and philosophy at the University of Vienna, but drops out in favor of a more serious life on the puppet theater stage.

She took her first steps in her aunt Karin Schäfer's puppet theater and was given opportunities at the Schubert Theater in Vienna, which she gratefully accepted.

In between, various side jobs taught her many useful and strange things about life.

She loves the ambiguity of puppets and language.

Music regularly saves her life.

From 2020 to 2024, she studied "Contemporary Puppetry" at Ernst Busch Berlin.

Since 2022 she has been on the board of the international festival for puppet theater "PannOpticum", Burgenland.

She has a lovely brother and very understanding parents.

As an independent artist and "Kulturschaffende", she is constantly on the lookout for new shores and collaborations.
